The D. W. Perkins Bar Association is proud to announce the dedication of the 2nd Floor Courthouse Jury Assembly Room is being renamed the “The Daniel Webster Perkins Jury Assembly,” in honor of D. W. Perkins, Esquire on June 15, 2022 at 4:00 pm. Daniel Webster Perkins was instrumental in arguing the for inclusion of Black jurors and was one of the first lawyers to selct both white and black jurors in Jacksonville, Florida. This is an historic event and represents a recognition of the contribution of Black lawyers in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1968 the Association formerly known as The Colored Lawyers Association changed its name to D. W. Perkins Bar Association to honor his accomplishments in the fight for civil rights.
