Independent filmmaker Speedy L. Brown, founder of New Life Media and Head of Vertical Content for The LITT Network, announces the release of his newest short film, “The Burdens We Bury.” The emotionally charged project was written, filmed, and completed in just 48 hours, showcasing the resilience and creativity of Jacksonville’s growing film community.
The Burdens We Bury follows a husband and wife whose world is shattered when they receive a desperate phone call from their daughter. As the father listens, he experiences vivid flashes of her as his little girl — a heartbreaking contrast that fuels the tension of the story. What begins as a moment of fear quickly escalates into a confrontation that forces the couple to make a life‑altering decision that will change their family forever.
The film stars Speedy L. Brown and Tamika Brown, with supporting appearances from Kali Brown, Aneka Brown, and special contributions from Amiljay Lane. Shot entirely in Jacksonville, the film highlights the emotional depth and grounded storytelling that have become hallmarks of Brown’s work.
“This film was created under intense time pressure, but the heart of the story never changed,” Brown said. “It’s about family, protection, and the weight of the choices we make when the people we love are in danger.”
The Burdens We Bury is now officially listed on IMDb and will be featured on The LITT Network, a growing streaming platform dedicated to uplifting independent creators and faith‑aligned storytelling.
Brown continues to expand Jacksonville’s creative footprint through New Life Media, upcoming projects under the Cautionary Tales anthology, and community‑driven initiatives designed to bring more filmmakers into the spotlight.
